Time to dive in again!

P210

Haven't been doing much in Warhammer for months now. Got busy working and hunting and now training a gun dog. But, damn I miss 40k terrain, painting fantastic warhammer armies, and playing epic battles. So, decided to kick start myself and went out and bought the new The Empire army book and How to Paint Citadel Miniatures guide. Gonna be great getting started again.

Beyond Warhammer -- I love David Weber's Honor Harrington Series!

Captain_honor_harrington_by_thomasthecat
I love space opera, and nobody does it better than David Weber. His series on Honor Harrington is superb, and has kept me on edge for years. Tomorrow, his next volume comes out and I can't wait! Don't know how or where I'll get a copy because I'll be traveling this week, but I've got to try!

This multi-volume tail is not as dark as the Heresy and probably a bit better written than most Warhammer novels (excepting Abnett, McNiel, and a couple others). But, you have truly epic conflicts highlighting massive space battles that are just brilliantly presented. I love every book!

Inara's training fine -- and safely!

Inara--pictures_of_labradors--1stmonth
So, we're coming to the close of our first month with Inara. She'll be 12 weeks tomorrow. She's wonderful to be with and she's already sleeping through the night for us. So, I get 7 hours of sleep and then have a good reason to get up at 5:30 and get my day going! Check out pictures at Pictures of Labradors!

I've also put together a nice Squidoo lens on Puppy Safety. You can see my philosophy on how I'm going to keep my puppy safe and flourishing. And there's stuff to buy, too!

40k Terrain Texture

Cities_of_death_209

I get questions on 40k Terrain from my readers pretty often, even though I haven't been posting much the past six months (that's about to change.) I've got no idea how they get my email, but for those industrious enough, I really like answering the questions. Here's an answer on doing texture on 40k Terrain.

Risk -- Fun Outside the Warhammer World

[[posterous-content:pid___0]]My family and I usually play some board game or the other during long weekends, holidays, and vacations. We play several, but this last weekend we took some time to play Risk -- The Game of Global Domination. I know lots of people don't like this game, but we've got it down to a level of art and science that lets us reliably complete games in less than three hours. We put on some good music, put out a few nice snacks and drinks, and get down to some friendly dice throwing. This weekend, I was crushed. My wifeand sone duked it out with my wife winning the game in the end. We had a great time!

Sitting down under a massive tent on Brown University for their 243rd Commencement. My sister, Sharol Lyn Goeringer, has received her Doctor in Philosophy in Computer Music and Multimedia. Her dissertation was "Liminal/subliminal: The Streetlight as Infra-Ordinary Sound Art Object." Its a wonderful day!
